She made her playwriting debut with her monologue, The Word of Oprah, in 2010. Upon completing her MFA at Northwestern University, her full-length play and graduate thesis, There’s the Moon and Then There’s You, premiered at Bindlestiff Studio on May 30, 2015. In addition to teaching for Stories High and the inaugural Love Edition and Horror playwriting workshop, she's also written for Pinays Maintaining Sisterhood Through Art, Granny Cart Gangstas, the Amok play reading festival, Forbidden Futures, and was commissioned to write a one-act about the life of Tye Leung Schultz. Christina continues to showcase her works in progress, which include her two full-length plays, Cara’s World and In Real Life, and has recently been selected to be a part of the inaugural AAPI Playwrights Festival presented by the Contemporary Asian Theatre Scene in San Jose, which will premiere July 27, 2024.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

In the Stories High writing workshop, students will be introduced to the craft of playwriting. With lectures, weekly assignments, and in-class writing exercises, students will grasp the fundamental concepts of scene structure, action, events, voice, and dialogue. Assignments will include analyzing produced play scripts with both virtual and on-site workshops of student work while also engaging in their practice of the creative process, risk-taking, and refining their narrative vision. Students are expected to develop a sustained piece in weekly workshop meetings and will receive an individual consultation with the instructor. In collaboration with Stories High actors, directors, and producers, fully developed scripts are eligible for inclusion in the Bindlestiff Stories High stage production.
