Rock the MIC for Human Rights in the Philippines - Stop The Killings! RECORD RELEASE PARTY

Saturday June 2, 2018 / 7 pm / San Francisco / CA
In partnership with Bindlestiff Studios, Aninoko, and the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines (ICHRP-NorCal)

On April 19, 2018, ICHRP-USA released Rock the MIC for Human Rights... Stop the Killings, a compilation album that brings attention to the ongoing human rights crisis in the Philippines.

From throughout the US, Filipino American artists and allies from multiple genres and disciplines like hip-hop, poetry, folk music, beat-production, and punk joined forces to create this masterful piece of art and culture. Rock the MIC... stimulates musical sensibilities while also educating the listener about the human rights violations being waged on the Filipino people by the repressive Duterte government which is fully backed by Trump and the pro-war establishment.

Rock the MIC for Human Rights has been referred to as the current soundtrack for Filipino activism. A collection of songs that inspires new generations of activist, while reinvigorating the spirit of those on the frontline struggling for a just and peaceful homeland.

The San Francisco release party will feature performances by artists on the album like L.A. based Bootleg Orchestra, Long Beach rap duo Shining Sons, Beatrock Music rapper Power Struggle, and Palestinean liberation rapper Sharif. There will be additional performances by Kiwi Illafonte and Bay Area Pinoy punks, Aninoko.
