The Ghost Within: An Introduction to Writing Horror Plays
Facilitated by Christina Ying
Students will engage in a 3-week intensive writing workshop, where they will learn the fundamental elements of creating a horror stage play. Students will discover how core concepts of character, structure, plot, theme, and tone interact with the horror genre. The workshop will also explore the integration of American and Filipino cultural folklore into the horror genre. Students are expected to complete a 10-page one act that will be read on stage.
With lecture, weekly assignments, in-class readings, and one on one consultation students will grasp the fundamental concept of scene structure, action, events, voice, and dialogue.
