Over the July 4th weekend, our windows were shattered. We have since boarded up our windows, and we are enlisting artist Sami See to create a mural over the wooden boards. This campaign will cover the cost of the artist fee and supplies.

Virtual Staged Reading: Ang Espiya (a short play) by Reg Clay

Ang Espiya is an adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s one act play, The Spy. Reg Clay stays true to the intent of Brecht but reimagines the world in modern day anti-immigration sentiment.

Demand for the Department of Sanitation for SOMA

Screen Shot 2020-07-09 at 8.25.41 AM.png

SF Supervisors Haney, Ronen, Walton, Preston, and Mar need your help and support for the new Department of Sanitation and Streets. They have authored a plan to finally get our streets clean and to make sure that the city departments that are responsible for our streets are accountable to the public! The plan involves a new Department of Sanitation and Streets to focus on keeping our streets clean and green. A commission will be created to oversee the new department to allow for public accountability, feedback, and to prevent corruption.

To support this plan, here’s how you can help:

1) TWEET about it

SUBJECT LINE: San Francisco Needs a Department of Sanitation and Streets and Oversight Over Departments!

Hello,

I am writing in support of Supervisors Haney, Ronen, Walton, Preston, and Mar’s Charter Amendment that would finally address the state of our streets and to create oversight commissions for the Department of Public Works and the new Department of Sanitation and Streets.

San Francisco is one of the only major cities in America without a Department of Sanitation.

Especially during the time of COVID-19 and heightened fears about the spread of infectious disease, creating a new Department of Sanitation and Streets is common sense: it is a solution to keep our city clean with data-driven decision making and real accountability and oversight. The new department will be dedicated to making sure our streets and sidewalks are cleaned, that we have trash cans for litter, and that we have public bathrooms available for people to use.

The Department of Sanitation and Streets will make a huge impact on our streets and the quality of life for all San Franciscans. While our streets continue to get dirtier, the current department tasked with street cleaning has been full of fraud and corruption. We need oversight and we need it now.

Please support Supervisor Haney’s charter amendment.  Our city needs this change now!

Thank you,
